She Who Creates Herself

WOMAN'S PRAYER

I Pray…

I pray

For our Earth Mother

I pray for her to recover from

The destruction and exploitation

Brought on by the colonizers

I Pray

For all our ancestors

Who were murdered by invaders

For control of their land

And natural resources

I pray

For those beaten

Incarcerated and  tortured

For their continued resistance

I Pray

For their spirit to be instilled

In everyone of us here today

I Pray

For the children

Those they fed to dogs

Massacred in Chiapas

Those orphaned by war

I pray for the future generations

I Pray

For all  women

Whose bodies become the battlefield

For those raped at the border, prisons

And their own bedrooms

It hurts me to see my sisters

Selling themselves

Hooked on drugs

To continue living

I pray for none of them to die tonight

I Pray

For all the sexually abused children

I pray for them

Not  to blame themselves

And their predators be  punished

I Pray

For all the women

Who are beat by the ones they love

I pray for them

To learn to love themselves

I Pray

for my voice to no longer  be trapped

to rid myself

of this bitterness on my tongue

I can no longer be silent

Because a  few of us have escaped it

It does not negate world hunger and poverty

Caused by corporate globilization

Where fighting for survival

Is considered  terrorism

When our labor and bodies

As well as democracy and justice

Are up for sale

To the highest bidder

I pray

For all our people with AIDS and cancer

I pray not for a cure

But a way of living

Where neither would exist

I pray

For all our people

Who are homeless on our land

What will it take

For you to finally take a stand

I Pray

For a different way of seeing this life

I pray

For the day I am truly free

A day when we all live in harmony

A day where I am not controlled

By fear

Fear of what I think

Fear of What I say

Fear of who I am

Fear of who I love

Creator please give me energy

And guidance

To walk on this path called life

I pray…
